How many times have you told yourself you can’t do something?

• You can’t get the job you want because you don’t have enough qualifications

• You can’t start a business because you’re not good enough

• You can’t wear your favourite outfit because it makes you look fat

• You can’t talk to the fit guy down the road because he wouldn’t look twice at you

This is low self-esteem and it is THE BIGGEST killer of hopes and dreams!

YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON WHO CAN CHANGE THIS!

Imagine a life where you could do whatever you wanted because you had the confidence and courage to go for it. A life you loved filled with fantastic memories.

Imagine a life where your children grew up knowing that they could do whatever they wanted and be whoever they wanted, because mum lived her dream.

Imagine a life where your dream became a reality.

Wouldn’t that be AMAZING?!

MANY PEOPLE DON’T TRULY UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF SELF-ESTEEM

But the truth is, a good level of self-esteem is massively important. Self-esteem is the building block for EVERYTHING in life. It is what makes the difference between being stuck in the ‘mum rut’ and living a life you truly love and deserve.

Without a good level of self-esteem you will continue to merely exist in the same way of life you desperately want to escape.

Do you really want that?

SO WHAT EXACTLY IS SELF-ESTEEM?

Self-esteem is knowing you’re good enough without the need for external validation. It’s rocking that outfit without giving a shit what other people think. It’s knowing that you are totally worth living a life you love.

Self-esteem is staying true to yourself no matter what. It’s chasing your dreams regardless of what others think. It’s being able to face life’s challenges, knowing you will get through it and learn from it.

HOW CAN I REALLY UPGRADE MY SELF-ESTEEM?

That, my friend, is the exciting part. This is where you get to really dig deep and make the transformation happen.

Now I’d be lying if I told you it was easy. It’s not going to magically happen overnight and you are going to have to put the work in to get where you want. BUT IT IS SO WORTH IT!

FIND TIME FOR YOURSELF

I know what you’re thinking…chance would be a fine thing! Between school runs, copious amounts of housework and looking after little ones, it can be pretty hard to find time for you. It can definitely be done though and is massively important.

Try getting up before the kids do, take a few minutes out to have a cuppa in peace and read a chapter of your favourite book or listen to your favourite podcast.

Run yourself a nice bubble bath once the kids are in bed and pamper yourself with a face mask and hair mask.

Ask somebody you trust to look after the kids for an hour so you can go for a nice walk in the woods or by the sea.

It’s amazing how much of a difference it makes to daily life when you finally take some to just be you!

I love getting up in the morning for a bit of ‘me time’ with nobody harassing me. I get to wake up properly and focus on the day ahead. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS

Comparing yourself to others is a massive killer for self-esteem, it literally obliterates it. And I used to be the worst person for it! I would compare myself to EVERY SINGLE PERSON.

If you had even a single ounce of self-esteem before you started your self sabotage mission by comparing yourself to others, I can guarantee you wont have even the tiniest bit by the time you’ve finished.

I used to scroll through facebook and see the happy mums with their perfectly styled hair and their perfectly polished faces, with their perfectly behaved children and their perfect houses. All living the perfect lives.

But then I realised something that led to a spectacular transformation

WE ONLY SEE WHAT PEOPLE WANT US TO SEE

That’s right, we only see a snapshot of peoples lives and it’s often far from reality.

That beautiful family photo was followed by hours of endless baby cries and fighting kids, as her husband walked out the door for another night shift.

That perfect selfie was the only one out 100 to make the cut, because she hated the way she looked in all the others.

The perfect smiley faces sharing their amazing holiday were actually masking the worry of how they’ll be able to pay the credit card bill off.

Don’t be fooled by the beautiful pictures because you have no idea of the true story behind them. The reality is very often very different to what you see.

The truth is, we all lead different lives. We have different genes, we’ve had different upbringings and have completely different talents. We’ve also faced different challenges.

Not one of us is the same.

POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

You’ve probably heard of this one a million times before but they really do work. They are amazing for combating the blood thirsty negative vampires that are constantly drinking you dry. Whenever you find yourself thinking negative thoughts, replace them with their positive opposition.

So when you’re telling yourself you’re a bad mum, change it to you’re a good mum. Repeat this to yourself several times. After a while you will notice far less negative thoughts and lots more positive thoughts.

Another great way of incorporating positive affirmations into your life is to include them in morning routine. Stand in front of the mirror when you wake up and say,

“I AM BEAUTIFUL, I AM LOVED, I AM GOOD ENOUGH, I AM A GREAT MUM AND I CAN ACHIEVE ANYTHING I PUT MY MIND TO.”

Repeat as many times as you can and repeat throughout the day if necessary.

I used to think this was crazy, talking to myself in the mirror and telling myself all this stuff that I didn’t even believe, but it really does work. Over time, it really does change the way you think and feel about yourself.

AND FINALLY, JOURNALING!

Journalling is a great way to get your thoughts out of your head and identify thought and behaviour patterns. It’s also a fantastic way to realise all the amazing things that are happening in your life that wouldn’t necessarily be acknowledged otherwise.
